Google Pixel 4 Could Get Improved Dual SIM Functionality with Android Q

Google Pixel 4 Could Get Improved Dual SIM

Google’s Pixel devices have always been the talk of the town, and before there is any official information on the upcoming Pixel 4, we know that it is going to be released in the last quarter of this year along with its siblings. According to a source, the next-gen Pixel device will be coming with an improved dual SIM functionality. There are news that the tech giant has been working on new Lite models of the Google Pixel 3 smartphones and these devices might be launched in the coming few months on Verizon.

The next Flagship model will be coming out of the box with Android Q and will also bring new and improved technology along with it. Although it is too early to talk about the Pixel 4 device, a new comment in the Android Open Source Project Gerrit tells that Google is adding a new property value in the framework and Telephony service to tell if a device has hardware support for multiSIM functionality.

Moreover, there was a comment left by a Googler in one of the commits stating that the 2019 Pixel will have dual SIM functionality. We know that the Google Pixel 3 and its predecessor Pixel 2 have a regular SIM slot and an eSIM, but the user cannot use the physical SIM network and the eSIM network simultaneously even though the user can allocate the eSIM to connect to many supported carriers.
The upcoming Android Q will allow both the eSIM and Physical SIM to work together allowing Dual SIM, Dual Standby (DSDS) – both SIMs active can work simultaneously. This means that the users will be able to receive calls and SMS on both the SIM and both can be active at the same time. Will this new feature be helpful for you? Comment in the section below
